Welcome to July and the start of the second quarter of 2022.
Today, I will like to encourage as many of us that are wondering when all the investments we have made will begin (or continue) to make sense.
I recently was reminded of the quote attributed to Warren Buffet – “someone’s sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago”
This quote reminds me of the fact that investing and wealth creation occur over a period of time and most of the time requires patience amongst other things.
The truth is no one can safely time the markets, analysts typically predict and sometimes get the calls right.
In the same vein, like most things in life; the trick is to keep at it despite whatever issues we face – devaluation, delayed payments or even low yields.
A broken nest has never stopped a bird from rebuilding its nest. Neither does a spider stop weaving its cobweb even when it knows it can be broken.
At times like this, the best thing to do is to remember your long-term investment goals and focus more on risk containment and building up funds to take advantage of any opportunity that shows up.
Permit me to remind us that many astute investors make more money during a market lull as well as during seasons of economic recovery.
The trick is to remain focused and remain open to good deals. Like Richard Branson famously said, opportunities are like buses, there’s always another one coming.
In conclusion, at times like this; the best strategy is patient optimism. This ensures that one is discouraged from investing in opportunities that are sure to occur whilst waiting for the suboptimal investments to turn out well.
Till next week, I wish our Muslim members Barka De Sallah in advance.
